First try at opening a design in Pallette that was from the computer

Well it's been a LONG time since I started this blog. I have been working on several UFO's, just to get them done.  Completed 6 baby blankets, 1 Christmas Tree wall hanging that will become our LARGE Advent Calendar.  Made a trip to one of our local Dollar stores to get some small, lightweight ornaments to hang on the 25 buttons I sewed onto the tree. I have also completed many pieces of mending for the family and a quilt top for  one of my nephews & is wife. This brings me to my reason for "blogging".  My intention for the "original" quilt top was to embroider a couple of blank squares with downloaded designs with a "Mr. & Mrs." and their wedding date.   I am trying to figure out how too get those designs from my computer to my machine.

I did "upgrade" my embroidery machine at the end of September.  I traded in my Ellure Plus to get an Ellageo Plus.  I have been sewing quite a bit on it.  Getting used to a new machine is not always easy!  This one has a MUCH larger "sewing table" than my Ellure.  I bought the extension table when I got the machine. This machine sits about 5" further back on my table than the other machine.  Took a bit of getting used to less space.  I also have less space to use my serger!  I guess I need  to rearrange that area of my den? Onto how to get the designs from  my computer to my new machine!

I opened Pallete. Click on the 2nd picture from the left - the one w/ the file folder on it - in order to import your file.  I was able to find my design w/out too much work.  Had to open quite a few files (from the hard drive) to find the size and style I wanted.  (Make sure you have unzipped the entire file before you try to download your file!!)  Another suggestion is to make sure you keep your "Preview" checked so that when you open a file, you can see what it is supposed to look like!  The file may take a few seconds or more to "load" into the preview pane, so be patient.  If it never shows up, keep clicking on file names.  You may not have opened any single file yet.  In other words, each size and style is a separate file as far as I can tell so far!

When you get the design imported - you can see it on your design screen - click on "Design Settings" from the top menu bar.  A new window will open so you can select the machine type, hoop size and background color.  I wanted to use my 6"x10" hoop, and have a color LCD screen, so made sure to select the correct hoop selection - a drop down menu from that  screen.  After selecting the hoop and machine, I clicked on "OK".  I then clicked on the last button on the menu bar - "Write too Card".  A new window opened - "All original card data will be deleted".  I clicked on okay.  (I guess that now I only have this one design on my card. :) )  I then got a message that said, "Writing to original card is complete".  Tomorrow I will do a practice stitch to see how it stitches out.  Will let you know when I get it done, or if it doesn't work.  Night!

Monday, August 24th

Well, everyone else is at work, so I am going to begin my journey to learn my Baby Lock software - Palette.  I am going to try & work through the manual - NOT my favorite way to learn things, BUT since that is what I have at hand, here goes nothing.  I'll let you know how it goes after working/playing.

Well, I tried to just import an image in my personal files.  I changed the directory to try & import an image I already have saved, and now it goes back to that directory every time instead of the Palette directory - frustrating!  I will have my husband, the computer guru help when he gets home in a while.
